Cardiology

Veterinary cardiology is a branch of veterinary medicine that focuses on the heart health of cats and dogs. If your pet has heart disease (cardiomyopathy, pericardial disease, arrhythmia, high blood pressure, hyperthyroidism, etc.), our cardiology team will be in charge of their care.

What are the symptoms of heart problems in pets?

If your pet presents a cough, intolerance to physical exertion, breathing difficulties, such as rapid breathing at rest or irregular breathing, loss of consciousness or unusual abdominal swelling, it may be a heart condition. Contact us as soon as possible for a consultation with our cardiology team.

What happens during a cardiology checkup?

When you consult our team for a heart problem in your pet, we will start by doing a full physical examination. After examining your pet, the veterinarian may, if need be, recommend other tests to identify the problem. These could include blood work, blood pressure check, EKGs, X-rays or ultrasounds.
